Icarus

A wax candle burns within me

And out of a passion too strong for words

A pair of wings are fashioned.

Taking my wings on my back

He beckons me towards his light

Yet Sirens plague my heart and

I am blinded.

His heat is unbearable, but while it rejects me

I am compelled to fly on

Lest I wonder a labyrinth,

Hounded by the bullish cries of my soul.

I reach out to touch him

But my wings are melting

And his heat gently pushes me,

Back down towards earth,

Where I should never have left, or stayed.
